Must Try: Sleep with a Weighted Blanket Tonight

Restorology 15 lb Minky Weighted Blanket

If you’re suffering from anxiety or simply experimenting with sleep hacks, you should consider one of these weighted blankets.

Have you noticed the recent trend of weighted blankets? Some people swear by them for almost panacea-like remedies:  Anxiety, ADD, ADHD, Autism, OCD, Sensory Processing Disorder, and others.  Some people just think it helps them sleep better.  And we tend to agree.

We love these 15 lb RESTOROLOGY weighted blankets for a couple reasons: 1) at 15 lbs, they’re just a little heavier than the others at this price point, which we prefer; and 2) the luxuriously-soft faux Mink cover, a real treat with or without the added weight.  There’s also a generous 30-day money-back guarantee from the manufacturer in case you’re not satisfied.  So if you’re having trouble sleeping or a sleep hacking guru, consider testing out a weighted blanket asap.

10 Ways to Wake Up Refreshed Like Never Before

Still having trouble adjusting to Daylight Savings Time (DST)?  I certainly am. The whole notion of DST is a bit arcane to me.  DST originated under President Woodrow Wilson in 1918.  Back then it was called, “Fast Time” and the initiative was meant to give farmers more hours of daylight to tend to their crops.  Fast Time failed after only seven months, and it was dead until WWII.  But from February 9, 1942 to September 30, 1945, we were in “War Time” — basically, a year-round DST.  From ’45 to ’66, there were no uniform rules regarding whether the States needed to adopt DST.  Many didn’t; it was a confusing nightmare to transact business interstate. In 1966, Congress standardized DST — for some reason – instead of repealing it.  I’ll blame the farmers despite evidence to the contrary.  So instead of making the farmers get up early, we were forced to “spring ahead”  — a problem that has persisted for 50 years.  Now, under the Energy Policy Act of 2005, we have 8 months of DST (as compared to only 7 before).  And, unfortunately, it doesn’t look like DST going away anytime soon, as 70 countries now participate in some form of DST along with us.

Since I can’t change Daylight Savings Time for you, I made a list of my top 10 tips, remedies, and gadgets to help with the adjustment and wake up refreshed:  Read more
