5 Elements of Effective Communication

How effectively you talk is an indicator of your personal development. The more you may interact with others, the more you’ll want to tackle conditions that stretch your growth. By increasing your number of “on purpose” conversations, you’ll easily be able to find other methods for achievement to study and develop on your own. 

All conversations include some degree of danger. Some, like a discussion between you and your barber, might carry little importance. Now contrast this to asking your boss for a salary increase or to confronting a difficult client, and you may notice that the more important conversations naturally enhance your personal growth.  By having more and more “higher risk” conversations today, you’ll be more empowered to take on the difficult one in the future.

Communicate Effectively

As with all things, deliberate practice is necessary.  To aid in your development, it may be helpful to think about these five elements of effective communication:

  1. Intention: Speaking with a confidence and authenticity isn’t as simple as it sounds. You’ll need self-awareness to note in case your intention is only in your personal good points even whether it is shrouded beneath the cloak of serving to others. Consciously observe your conversations for a time frame and see your true intentions.
  2. Empathy: A lot has been said concerning the capacity to be empathic or to vicariously live through the sentiments of one another. The reality is that without this, our communication lacks depth and power. But it’s the power of empathy that promotes self-growth. Empathic exchanges can present new insights and into your personal development.
  3. Confidence: The power to rely on your self, to know all that you know, and to embrace all that you are, is the foundation of self-confidence. This pure self-assurance isn’t about being a know-it-all, however, it’s about having the internal power to declare what you do not know — but nevertheless are keen to study. The confident woman asks questions. The more you study confident people and mirror their behavior, the more you will grow.
  4. Engagement: Although “engagement” is really a buzzword in today’s social-media-centric world, engagement is more important as a means of avoiding misunderstandings. Engagement really, then, is the capacity to craft your messages differently for each recipient and know that you are being understood. Remember: your message might be sound completely different to the other person and vice versa.
  5. Persistence: Finally, it takes time to develop effective communication.  You need to have the persistence to keep going.  You need the persistence to grow when it is uncomfortable.  You need the persistence to grow.
